The Ancient Ram Inn is a Grade II listed building situated in Wotton-under-Edge, a market town within the Stroud district of Gloucestershire. Built in 1145, this location is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in the UK.

It is thought that the redirection of a local stream making way to accommodate the building, created a portal attracting darker energies. The land on which the Inn stands is also an intersection of two ley lines increasing the connection to the spiritual plain.

It is reported that a witch was once linked to the Inn; after being accused of practising witchcraft, she sought shelter within its walls but was sadly captured and sentenced to death by being burned at the stake. Today, this room is known as “The Witch’s Room”.

Evidence of devil worship and ritual sacrifice were found during the 1900’s with skeletal remains and broken daggers found in the ground under the staircase.

Many guests who stayed in “The Bishop’s Inn” room never made it through the night with many fleeing in the middle of the night as it said that the ghost of a monk visits this room on a regular basis.
